Frequently asked questions

The questions facilities managers, landlords and business owners ask us most often. For sector- or service-specific FAQs, follow the deep-link on each topic.

EICR and electrical testing

How often does a commercial EICR need to be done?

Every five years for most commercial premises, or on change of occupancy. Higher-risk environments may need a shorter cycle.

How long is a commercial EICR valid?

Five years (or shorter if specified on the report). The next inspection date is shown on the cover sheet.

Who is responsible for the EICR?

The duty-holder under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 — usually the landlord or occupying business.

Planned electrical maintenance (PPM)

What is PPM?

A scheduled programme of inspections, tests and remedial work designed to catch faults before they cause downtime and keep statutory testing on cycle.

Can we contract PPM across multiple sites?

Yes. Multi-site programmes with a single contract manager and a portfolio-level compliance dashboard.

Emergency lighting

How often does emergency lighting need testing?

Monthly function test plus annual full-duration test under BS 5266-1, recorded in the on-site logbook.

Can you upgrade to LED emergency lighting?

Yes. Most fluorescent emergency fittings can be replaced with LED units that meet BS 5266 and cut maintenance frequency.

Installation and fit-out

Do you work out of hours to avoid disrupting our business?

Yes. For retail fit-outs out-of-hours is included as standard. For office, industrial and other sectors it is itemised separately on the quote.

What certificates do we get on completion?

Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) to BS 7671, plus minor works or commissioning certificates as appropriate, plus as-fitted drawings where applicable.

Accreditations and procurement

Are you NICEIC-approved?

Yes — NICEIC Approved Contractor status. Our installation and testing work is independently audited annually.

What public liability insurance do you carry?

£5,000,000 public liability. Certificate available on request.
