Industrial high-bay LED warehouse lighting installed by Martin Day Commercial Electricians

Why industrial electrical needs specialists

Factory and warehouse electrical work is a step up from standard commercial in three ways: three-phase loads, production-critical uptime, and machine-specific competence. We deliver all three for industrial sites across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

What we deliver for industrial clients

Installation

  • Three-phase final circuits and machine connections
  • Motor control centres (MCCs) and starter panels
  • Variable speed drive (VSD) installation
  • Distribution upgrades and sub-mains
  • Production-line cable management (tray, ladder, conduit)
  • High-bay LED lighting for warehouses (see energy-saving lighting)
  • Three-phase EV chargers for fleet (see EV charger installation)

Maintenance

  • Thermographic inspection of distribution boards, MCCs and switchgear
  • EICR cycle — typically shorter intervals for industrial environments
  • PAT testing of portable plant and hand tools
  • Emergency-lighting testing to BS 5266
  • Reactive call-outs with same-day or 24/7 response under contract

Working around production

Industrial sites cannot stop for the electrician. We work to your shutdown calendar, weekend stoppages and overnight shifts. For multi-site operators we coordinate engineers across sites to match the schedule.

Safe isolation, lock-out / tag-out and permit-to-work systems are standard practice for us — and we work to your site-specific permit system where required.

Coverage

Industrial estates across Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield. Harrogate has a smaller industrial footprint but we cover the business parks there too.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work to a production shutdown calendar?

Yes. We routinely work to scheduled production stoppages, weekend shutdowns and overnight shifts. Safe-isolation and permit-to-work procedures are agreed with the site team before work begins.

Do you handle DNO supply upgrades for new equipment?

Yes. We carry out the maximum-demand assessment, liaise with Northern Powergrid (the DNO in our area), specify the new supply and install the sub-main and distribution. The DNO programme drives the timeline.

Can you provide thermographic inspection of switchgear?

Yes. Thermal imaging of distribution boards, motor control centres and switchgear, available as a one-off or part of a PPM contract. Reports include before/after thermographs and remedial recommendations.

What about high-bay LED lighting upgrades?

High-bay LED replacements are one of the highest-ROI energy upgrades for warehouses — typical payback under three years. We design, install, commission and certify the new scheme.
