Energy-saving lighting in Leeds
LED retrofit, lighting-control upgrades and high-bay schemes for offices, retail, warehouses and industrial premises. Cuts energy use, maintenance and CO2.
What energy-saving lighting upgrades cover
LED retrofit and lighting-control upgrades for commercial premises. Replacing fluorescent, halogen and discharge lighting with LED — usually paired with daylight-harvesting and presence-detect controls — produces big reductions in energy use, maintenance load and CO2 emissions, with paybacks typically inside three years.
What we deliver
LED retrofit
- Office lighting — recessed panels, linear suspended, surface luminaires
- Retail display lighting — track, spot, accent
- Warehouse high-bay — the highest-ROI commercial upgrade
- Industrial lighting — IP-rated for production environments
- External lighting — car parks, building façade, signage
- Emergency lighting — paired upgrade to BS 5266 (see emergency lighting)
Lighting controls
- Presence and absence detection
- Daylight harvesting (auto-dimming when natural light is sufficient)
- Time-of-day scheduling
- DALI, KNX and wireless control retrofit
- Group and zone scene control
How we deliver an upgrade
- Site survey — count fittings, log hours of use, measure existing lux levels
- Lighting design — produced to CIBSE LG-series guidance for the sector
- Payback calculation — current energy cost vs projected, including controls savings
- Quote — itemised, with grant funding flagged where applicable
- Install — in-hours or out-of-hours per the building’s operating profile
- Commissioning — controls programmed to the client’s pattern, lux levels recorded
- Certification — BS 7671 EIC and updated as-fitted lighting drawings
High-bay LED — the standout commercial upgrade
For warehouses and industrial premises, replacing fluorescent T5/T8 high-bay fittings with LED units typically delivers:
- 60-75% reduction in lighting energy use
- Payback inside 30 months (often inside 24)
- 50,000-100,000 hour service life vs ~15,000 for fluorescent
- Removal of biennial relamping maintenance
The maintenance saving alone often justifies the upgrade in a multi-site warehouse portfolio.

Frequently asked questions
What is the payback on a commercial LED upgrade?
Typically 18 to 36 months on standard office and retail upgrades, faster (12-24 months) on warehouse high-bay schemes where lighting is on continuously. We provide a payback calculation as part of every quote.
Do you upgrade emergency lighting at the same time?
Yes — it is the most cost-effective time to do it. New emergency LED fittings to BS 5266 are installed alongside the normal-lighting upgrade, with a single commissioning visit.
What about lighting controls?
Presence-detect, daylight-harvesting and DALI/KNX control upgrades all available. Most modern LED schemes pay back faster when paired with controls.
Will the upgrade meet CIBSE lighting levels?
Yes. We design to the relevant CIBSE Lighting Guide for the application (LG3 for office, LG5 for education, LG7 for sport, etc.). Designed lux levels recorded on the as-fitted drawings.
