Industrial electrician working on three-phase equipment in a Leeds warehouse

What industrial electrical work covers

Industrial electrical work is a step up from standard commercial in three ways: three-phase loads, production-critical uptime, and machine-specific knowledge. We deliver all three for factories, warehouses, production lines and logistics sites across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The scope ranges from a single new machine connection to a full distribution system for a new production hall.

Who this is for

  • Production managers commissioning new equipment
  • Site engineers managing planned upgrades and refurbishments
  • Operations directors consolidating multi-site maintenance
  • Logistics warehouse managers upgrading lighting, EV chargers and racking power
  • Property developers fitting out industrial units for new tenants

Typical industrial scope

New install

  • Sub-main cabling and distribution upgrades
  • Three-phase machine final circuits with appropriate isolators
  • Motor control centres (MCCs) and starter panels
  • Variable speed drive (VSD) installation and wiring
  • Production-line cable management (cable tray, ladder, conduit)
  • Three-phase EV chargers for fleet (see EV charger installation)
  • High-bay LED lighting for warehouses (see energy-saving lighting)

Maintenance

  • Thermographic inspection of distribution boards, MCCs and switchgear
  • PAT testing of portable plant and hand tools
  • EICR cycle for industrial premises — typically shorter than office cycles
  • Emergency-lighting testing to BS 5266
  • Reactive call-outs with same-day or 24/7 response under contract

What you get on completion

  1. BS 7671 EIC for the new circuits
  2. Schematic drawings for any modified or new switchgear
  3. Equipment commissioning sheets for VSDs, soft starters and MCCs
  4. Asset register entry under the PPM contract if applicable
  5. Thermographic report on completion of new MCC works

Working around production

Industrial sites cannot stop for the electrician. We work to your shutdown calendar, your weekend stoppages and your overnight shifts. For multi-site operators we coordinate engineers across sites to match the schedule.

Safe isolation, lock-out / tag-out and permit-to-work systems are standard practice for us — and we will work to your site-specific permit system where required.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work on three-phase installations?

Yes. Three-phase is core to industrial work. We install, modify and maintain three-phase supplies, machine connections, motor controls and ancillary controls.

Can you handle a DNO supply upgrade for a new machine?

Yes. We carry out maximum-demand assessments, liaise with the DNO (Northern Powergrid in our area), specify the new supply and install the new sub-main and distribution.

Do you work in live production environments?

Yes. We routinely work in live production around scheduled stoppages, on overnight shifts, or in zones with safe-isolation procedures agreed with the site team.

Can you provide thermographic inspection of switchgear?

Yes. Thermal imaging of distribution boards, motor control centres and switchgear is offered as a one-off or as part of a PPM contract. Reports include before/after thermographs and remedial recommendations.

What about safety paperwork for procurement?

Standard pack: NICEIC Approved Contractor certificate, CHAS card, RAMS for the works, £5m public liability insurance certificate. We can also complete most third-party procurement portals (Avetta, Achilles UVDB, Constructionline).
